Friesland/Holland with the SX20 -Yachtline-

It all started with my husband’s question in 2022: “Shouldn’t we take a look at the Öchsner yachts?” We were on our way home from a wonderful vacation on the island of Elba. We went out on our dinghy a lot to wonderful empty beaches and discovered beautiful stretches of coastline. We have always loved life on the water. We went out for a swim, moored up to go shopping or took the boat to the restaurant for a meal.
Well, Kürnach was practically on the way; as always, we wanted to make a stopover in Würzburg. So why not? …You can look and dream… No sooner said than done! And we were already sitting in Mr. Küffner’s office and he told us a lot about the boat. We were interested in the SX20 -Yachtline-. On the one hand, it’s not that big, so it’s easy to handle and slip. We didn’t want to have a fixed berth, but instead wanted to be able to have our area here and there depending on our mood. On the other hand, it should also offer some comfort – i.e. good sleeping facilities, toilet room, washbasin and fridge, so that you can also make a small turn from time to time.

All in all : MY BOAT!

We very quickly realized that the SX20 would be the ideal boat for us! The presentation of the boat was very interesting and detailed and was illustrated with photos on the PC. Everything was very clear and above all in a very pleasant atmosphere! Our questions were answered in detail and then came the HIGHLIGHT: Mr. Küffner took us to the hall where some of the Öchsner yachts were located. And that’s when it happened: I immediately fell in love with the SX20! The layout is perfect. The toilet room is a highlight, not often found in a boat of this class! Washbasin and fridge also available. And in the cockpit a very comfortable seating area with beautiful upholstery – the color is called mocha! All in all : MY BOAT! We said goodbye and wanted to get in touch if we were interested in buying! On the way home we discussed … Want to have – gladly! But how to finance it? After 3 days the decision was made: “IF NOT NOW, WHEN THEN” … we are both pensioners (70 and 67 years old).
We bought the boat and 9 months later we went back to Kürnach. Once again we sat in Mr. Küffner’s office on 25.04 2023, both very nervous! He took a lot of time to answer all our questions and the introduction was very interesting. Remarkable how calm and personal he comes across – thanks again to Mr. Küffner! Afterwards, Mr. Öchsner drove us to the Mainschleife with his car, our trailer and the boat. Here the practice took place: Slipping and driving behavior of the boat. We did a few laps and thanks to his help we had the boat back on the trailer. We would also like to thank Mr. Öchsner, he did the briefing very professionally – he also exudes a lot of calm and answers all questions patiently! We felt we were in very good hands here!

Christening and 1st cruise

And off we went home with our new toy … The journey home from Kürnach to the Ruhr area was no problem either. The trailer was well on track, we hardly noticed the weight. If you are driving through the city center, you have to remember to take a wide arc when turning off. We arrived home safely and the boat and trailer are now in our garden. On 5.5. At 5.55 a.m. the boat was christened: our granddaughter named our yachtline “Little Sunshine”.
2 days later we set off on our first trip … Where to ????? To Friesland/Holland. A uniquely beautiful area! Many beautiful lakes with jetties, lots of nature, nice outdoor catering! What makes it special: Holland is completely geared towards boat tourism, with mooring facilities everywhere! We reserved a berth in Heeg in the pedestrian harbor (phone number: +31 515 443 753). The harbour master is very friendly and helpful. SLIPPING is great – just a bit steep. The harbor is in a great location with a small bathing beach, also good for children or grandchildren. The sanitary facilities are great.

From here you can go on an endless number of tours. There are many small towns to visit – either as excursion destinations or as tours with overnight accommodation in the harbor. We went straight on tour the next day. First across the Heeger Meer through the canal to Woudsend. A nice little town where you could have a good beer in the restaurant or, in my case, a cappuccino with good home-made cakes. Meanwhile, you can watch the harbor cinema, sitting right next to the lift bridge … that’s always fun, unless you’re involved 🤪. We continue across the Slotermeer towards Balk. ATTENTION: There is an expressway marked with yellow buoys on the way. What does the boat say : easy. To my husband’s delight, we immediately get into the GLEITEN and off we go! Soon Balk is approaching us; mooring is no problem – it works best from the side. We take a stroll through the town, where there are even several boutiques. And on we go back across the Sloter Meer and then towards SLOTEN to our favorite harbor, the Passantenhafen in the small canal of Sloten. And when the mill is illuminated in the dark in the evening, you know why we like to be here: Pure romance. FRIESLAND is simply beautiful. And even more beautiful with the Öchsner SX20 -Yachtline-!
