Experience report SX20 -Yachtline-: Elbe, Ilmenaukanal

I took over my boat in Kürnach at the end of March. After a comprehensive briefing, a test drive on the Main took place to gain a first impression of the driving behavior. Even here it was noticeable how easy it was to handle the boat. The next day, in the last snowstorm of the year, I set off in the direction of the Elbe with the perfectly tracking trailer, without any complications.

Two days later, the boat was launched at the slipway in our home port. The whole operation took less than 30 minutes and I was able to head straight for my berth and tie up there. As the Elbe-Ilmenau weir was temporarily closed due to urgent repair work, unfortunately only the Ilmenau Canal and Stöckter Hafen harbor were available to me. Weekend excursions as planned were therefore unfortunately not possible.
However, this provided ample opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the boat. Mooring, casting off, anchoring, stopping, man overboard, etc. I was also able to sufficiently test the technology, shower, toilet, lighting and sleeping comfort. The boat was convincing in all respects.

Unfortunately, they will soon be going into winter storage. Preparations are already underway. My next report will come from the Elbe, between Cuxhafen and Magdeburg, my actual hunting ground.
