Experience report SX20 -Yachtline-: Main
- Boat model: SX20 -YACHTLINE-
- Engine: Honda BF 100 LRTU
- cruising area: Main
- crew: 2
- crew experience: Experienced
Following the professional engine inspection and winterizing carried out by Öchsner, the new season was just around the corner.
The exploration of the Main from Aschaffenburg to Frankfurt was on the program in order to find a possible home port near Frankfurt. As many reports show, the Main is not only interesting in the direction of Frankfurt and Mainspitze/Rhine, but also upstream.
Not large, but quiet – although located directly on the banks of the Main – the harbor of the Hanauer Bootsclub e. V.
At 2.28 m, the width of the SX20 -Yachtline- is an advantage, which also allows you to use the many leisure boat locks comfortably and therefore not have to wait for commercial shipping. The sports boat locks can be operated manually, I have learned to appreciate the middle, folding cleat when sailing alone: not in the way and absolutely sufficient in most locks. The electric anchor winch was used several times to enjoy the sun on the Main close to the shore.
The advantage on the Main – while maintaining consideration and safety – is that there is no speed limit on long stretches and water skiing is also possible on some passages (e.g. between Kahl and Großkrotzenburg).
Culinary recommendations:
- Restaurant Gerbermühle (with summer garden and view of the skyline), Frankfurt
- Mainpark Restaurant, Hanau (directly at the boat club)
- Wirtshaus am See, Kahl am Main
- Tavern – Zum Fegerer, Aschaffenburg
All in all, we enjoyed the summer and fall on the boat, an oasis of well-being, and we found our home port in Marina Lässig in Kahl am Main.
Öchsner’s friendly, fast and uncomplicated help is always worth mentioning, this time with the repair of damage and the short-term support with the procurement of winter quarters. It’s nice to see that existing customers are also highly valued.
Now the SX20 -Yachtline- will be equipped by Öchsner with a Flexi Teak covering in the cockpit area, which we are very much looking forward to.
Best regards
Stefan and Sarah S.
