Experience report SX20 -Yachtline-: Main

I was immediately drawn to the SX20 -Yachtline-

As a complete beginner, after the motor boat driving license was obtained inland and sea and one – here you have to be honest with yourself in particular – although you have permission to drive a boat but you can’t really do it yet, I went to the “Boot” in Düsseldorf in January… with the aim of finding a small boat that is high quality but at the same time does not completely exceed the price range, can be trailered and also looks good. Of course, it should also be manageable and usable both in inland waters and close to the coast – you never know what vacations are coming up…

That’s how I came across the stand of the Öchsner team… Despite the many other interested parties, Florian Öchsner immediately took his time and I was able to marvel at the SX20 -Yachtline-… Since I was immediately enthusiastic, I ordered the boat in late spring – due to the corona lockdown. In Kürnach I met Mr. Küffner, who explained everything to me and took a lot of time… the first sales talk in which there was no pressure at any time… thank you again for that.

And then I was on my own

When I took delivery of my “Muneca” in April (by the way, the boat’s facelift, the SX20 -Yachtline was delivered), the excitement was great. The briefing took place on the Main, whereby Mr. Öchsner also took a lot of time here and explained everything in detail.

So…. and now it was time. You were on your own without the professional. I had my berth in the port of Lohr am Main – a small port that has a family flair. The “Town of Snow White” also has a lot to offer and you can walk from the harbor to the old town very quickly…

In the first year in particular, I thought it was great that the port is very small and manageable. After all, you could gain initial experience with the boat without too many eyes watching the whole thing.
Unfortunately, due to the restrictions imposed by the corona pandemic, it was not possible to spend the night on the boat – the port rules stipulated that. But that didn’t spoil the fun. What have we done:

• Lots of day trips with the dogs (two Italian Greyhounds)
• Parties with friends – the water ladder has proven itself
• Watch EM games on the water, which – despite the results – was unforgettable

The boat itself is ideal for this. I wrote at the beginning that I was already convinced of the quality at the first viewing. And that has never changed. The driving characteristics that the boat has are advantageous even for a beginner. The boat is easy to guide, the 100 hp engine is fun and the consumption is also completely acceptable.

All in all, I have not regretted the purchase so far – you become more confident in handling the boat from time to time – even when slipping (here I watched the video again beforehand)…
