At the last possible boat show in Düsseldorf in 2020, we looked at the Öchsner 20 -Yachtline- and decided on this boat after a short consideration. Due to the coronavirus, there was only a limited briefing at the handover in April (by arrangement) and unfortunately no handover trip.
Until 2010, I sailed almost exclusively and only occasionally motorboated in Holland.
The 2020 season was a great time for us on the Weser, albeit far too short! After about 8 weeks, the 1st inspection of the engine was due. So we slip the boat and head home. In order to keep the boat in the water for a longer period of time, we decided to have an underwater coating applied. It doesn’t look bad and the antifouling considerably reduces the cleaning time before winterizing.
For our tours on the Weser, we consider the 60 hp outboard motor to be sufficient, at least for us. We did not find the engine noise disturbing.
In 2021, we weren’t allowed to take the boat into the water until the end of May. But now we wanted to try out whether 2 older men and their luggage could be on the road for several days. So we stowed what we could, but first tested it with a longer day trip and a barbecue in the home port. For 2 men it works for one night. Spending long periods of time in this cramped space is no fun, at least for us! So we stick to day trips on the Weser.
We have so much fun with our SHANA and can relax in the best possible way
