Field report SX20 -Yachtline-: Switzerland, Lake Zurich

The SX20 -Yachtline- fulfilled all our requirements

We live in Switzerland, just a few minutes’ walk from Lake Zurich and are in the fortunate position of having a mooring on the water. Until now, we only had a smaller fishing boat with an 8 hp outboard motor. We had been thinking about buying something “bigger” and “stronger” for a long time. Due to the size of the berth, the boat was allowed a max. be 7m long and 2.80m wide. Our other wishes for the new boat: price, outboard motor with min. 80 hp, a spacious cabin in which you can sit upright and sleep two people, a separate toilet if possible, a permanently installed refrigerator and high-quality workmanship.
To get an overview of the various boat suppliers, we went to the boat show in Friedrichshafen in 2019. We found what we were looking for at the Öchsner stand. There was a 20 -Yachtline- on display, which fulfilled all our wishes and requirements.

In spring 2021, we ordered the SX20 -Yachtline-, which had undergone a facelift in the meantime, from Mr. Küffner via video conference due to corona. Due to the high demand, we had to wait until next year to deliver the boat.

The long-awaited handover

In February 2022, we received the long-awaited email from Öchsner that the SX20 -Yachtline- would be ready for handover in Kürnach on April 20, 2022. As our journey from Switzerland took around four hours, we arrived by car the evening before. We spent the night in nearby Würzburg. The next day, after a wait of almost a year, the time had come. At 09:00 Mr. Küffner was waiting for us to take over the boat. As usual, Mr. Küffner gave us the one-hour theoretical part in his office in a very professional manner. In the meantime, our SX20 -Yachtline- was driven in front of the building for the practical briefing. Now there was nothing to keep us on our seats. We finally wanted to get to our boat. We were delighted with our new acquisition, which is exactly how we imagined the Yachtline would be. Highly polished, she was ready for her maiden voyage. Together with Mr. Öchsner we drove to the Main to launch the boat for the first time. Handling the boat is really very easy and you feel familiar with it from the very first minute. Unfortunately, we couldn’t take the boat home afterwards as we had bought it without a trailer. Happy and with the certainty that we had made the right purchase decision, we drove back to Switzerland the same day.

Delivery to Switzerland

Around two weeks later, on 2 May 2022, a company specializing in boat transport delivered our SX20 -Yachtline- to the beautiful Lake Zurich in Switzerland. Unloading with the harbor crane went smoothly. Before we were allowed to launch the boat, various documents (owner’s manual, exhaust gas documents, declaration of conformity, customs documents, etc.) had to be submitted to the cantonal shipping office. We received most of the necessary documents from Öchsner in advance. In this regard, a big thank you once again to Ms. Köhler, who always supported us expertly and actively.

On May 7, 2022, the SX20-Yachtline was finally ready to be launched with the approval of the authorities. Around three months later, on August 4, 2022, the final inspection took place on the lake. It was criticized that the max. permissible motorization was not on the CE sticker at the control stand. But that’s just the way it is in different countries. In the meantime, we have made the required changes. We have already spent several wonderful hours on the water with our “White Bird”. We are already really looking forward to 2023.
