Experience report SRX30 -Yachtline-: Rhine, Lake Constance, Müritz

From the Yachtline 23 to the SRX30 -Yachtline-

Since May 2019 we have been the proud owners of a Drago 23 -Yachtline from Öchsner. We spent some great hours on this space wonder and had a lot of fun, including water skiing and wakeboarding. After winter storage, we collected our Desi from the Öchsner company in Kürnach and started the 2020 season.
During a tour on Lake Constance, we were splashing around in the warm water when a smaller Öchsner Drago approached us and, after making initial inquiries about our Desi, the owner told us with complete conviction that he would buy this boat from us immediately. At first, we rejected this friendly but surprisingly quick offer. However, as our family of 7 enjoys motor boating so much, we spoke to Mr. Küffner from the Öchsner company the next day. We quickly agreed with Mr. Küffner that a large SRX30 -Yachtline- would be even more suitable for our large family and so we sold our beloved Desi to the friendly couple at the end of the summer vacations and immediately ordered an SRX30 from the Öchsner company for next year.

The long-awaited handover of our SRX30 -Yachtline- in Kürnach

After the wonderful experiences with the 23 Yachtline, we were now looking forward to the next boating season in 2021, when we were able to pick up our SRX30 -Yachtline- from the Öchsner company in Kürnach in May. This new member of the family is also named Desi, in keeping with tradition.
We ordered our SRX30 with full equipment and the powerful and beautifully bubbling, high-torque and extremely economical Volvo Penta V6 Biturbo with 280 hp. We also had a Webasto heating system installed directly by the Öchsner company. This has enabled us to sit outside comfortably through many a clammy evening and night and created a cozy warmth.

What particularly impressed us about the SRX30 in the new season was the exceptional amount of space, which allows us to spend relaxed, varied, sporty and fun times even with seven people. On the one hand, we are fascinated by the high quality of the details and the practical and well thought-out detailed solutions. When handling the boat, you immediately notice that the Öchsner family and their employees, like Mr. Küffner, are out and about with the boats themselves and are constantly optimizing them. With the help of this personal experience, they can continue to improve the boats in detail. Just one example of this would be the retractable yet extremely comfortable cushions on the bow.

The briefing was again absolutely sound, very detailed and extremely helpful. Mr. Öchsner was always patient and very friendly. Thanks to the lighting package, which offers a wide range of variants, you can enjoy everything from a cozy, romantic and also useful light for reading, playing and writing to underwater light for exploring fish or other aquatic life. The top light on the roof enables safe anchoring in the dark with a non-intrusive but clearly visible all-round light.

Relaxing on the boat, whether taking a little nap, eating, socializing, stargazing or looking at the other beauties on the lake, is a pleasure thanks to the very comfortable upholstered seats and loungers, which are not only of high quality but can also be easily adjusted to different positions. This makes it possible to look out over the water at the back of the boat or forward into the cockpit.

By dividing the cabin into three areas, everyone can find a place to relax. Whether you need to work quietly at the top, or relax or read comfortably in the underfloor cabin, while you play or eat in the kitchen and lounge area, or the dog snores in a corner, there is something for everyone. And when everyone is happy and tired in the evening, there is room for five people to sleep below deck and for two more in the cockpit under the camper deck. This can be optimally adjusted to all sun conditions, both when underway and at beautiful anchorages. The large awning to shade the bow area provides plenty of shade. In addition, the sides can simply be covered to protect them from too much sunlight. The extremely high and very good material and workmanship quality of the entire soft tops should be mentioned once again.

The boat is easy to steer and always safe to drive, not only in sunny weather but also in rainy or windy conditions. Despite the light weight and the resulting trailerability, the GRP quality of the hull makes an exceptionally stable and durable impression. All the stainless steel work is also of the highest quality. Another highlight is the large bathing platform with the “cool part”, which can be a ladder, water seat, bathing platform or diving board. Handling the dinghy is easy, practical and really functional, especially when our dog needs a walk. The sporty and safe riding characteristics are particularly enjoyable when waterskiing, wakeboarding and on the mattress. The maneuverability and reaction time increase the driving pleasure enormously. In a large family, someone is always hungry or thirsty. Two fridges and a large base cabinet are used to store the barbecue, stove, crockery and food. The large storage area next to the sink allows the whole family to cook. We use a kerosene stove and the lotus grill. We don’t want gas on board. The large fresh water tank allows not only washing up, but also washing and showering.

With all these positive aspects, we can’t help but “apologize” to disbelieving club members for the very low fuel consumption of our Öchsner SRX30 -Yachtline-, which led to a club friend who is well versed in physics describing the fuel consumption as a violation of the physical laws of nature when looking at our elegant and large SRX30.

We could mention so much more and are therefore happy to serve as a reference. We picked up our Desi from Öchsner in the spring after hibernation and are really looking forward to an eventful 2022 season.
