I completed my SBF See and Binnen in 2020, now all I needed was a boat! After some research on the Internet to find out what options are available and after weighing up our interests, we came to the conclusion that it should definitely be trailerable.
So the research continued. As we have two children and a powerful towing vehicle, it was clear to us that we wanted to make full use of the maximum towing capacity of 3.5 tons. While searching for what was possible, we came across the boats from Öchsner. And as luck would have it, the Öchsner company had a used SRX30 for sale. Since we were going on vacation a few days later and Kürnach was practically on the way, we quickly arranged a viewing appointment.
Together with Mr. Küffner from the Öchsner company, we looked at this boat and other models. With a good impression, we continued on our vacation. There we gave it some more thought and came to the decision: it should be an SRX30 -Yachtline-.
After the vacation we called Mr. Küffner again, in the meantime the used SRX30 -Yachtline- was already sold. So we configured a new boat. As luck would have it, Mr. Küffner informed us that just such a boat with the desired equipment would soon be going into production. However, this should first serve as a trade fair boat and could then be handed over to us in March/April 2021. After the promise of a small discount at the trade fair, we didn’t have to think twice and bought the boat.
On the agreed date, we drove to Kürnach to pick up our SRX30 -Yachtline-. After a theoretical briefing from Mr. Küffner, we went with Mr. Öchsner to a slipway on the Main, where we received practical instruction for the boat. We were also shown tips and tricks for slipping the boat. With lots of information, our boat was then made ready to travel on the trailer. Finally we went to the scales and what can we say: the Öchsner company more than kept its promise: despite a 20% tank filling, the 3500kg were undercut by 140kg. With many impressions, we then hung our boat behind our car and made our way home.
On the first beautiful Sunday we naturally wanted to test our boat straight away, so we went to the nearest slipway on the Mittelland Canal. Of course, not everything went as smoothly when slipping in and out as it did with Mr. Öchsner. But we got it right. But as we don’t have a permanent mooring for our boat, we are now very practiced at slipping. It worked better from time to time. Now we only need about a quarter of an hour after arriving at the slipway until the boat is in the water and about half an hour to get it out again and have it loaded and secured on the trailer ready for transportation.
After a few nice trips on the Weser, we went to Holland for a weekend, where we spent the night on the boat for the first time. We and our children liked this and the space is perfectly adequate for a family of four, and the camper top means that the seating area on deck can also be used in the cooler evening hours.
During our summer vacation, we went to Croatia and of course we couldn’t miss our boat. I must honestly say that I was amazed at how easy it was to pull the boat with the accompanying aluminum trailer. When we arrived in Croatia, our boat was craned and we were given our berth in the harbor. From here we went on many wonderful excursions.
We are already looking forward to the 2022 boating season, in which we will hopefully be able to go on many beautiful trips with our boat again.
Best regards, Family H.
