Exactly one year ago the Interboot 2019 in Friedrichshafen was just around the corner. The exhibition boats were prepared for their big appearance, many small organizational matters had to be taken care of before the start of the trade fair and the joyful tension in the Öchsner team increased every day.

Today – a year later – it looks completely different.

Our everyday life has changed fundamentally because of the corona pandemic and new rules and regulations have been introduced. Mask requirement, distance rules and dispensers with disinfectant on every corner – unthinkable a year ago.

A return to the previous normal state is still a long way off. And so the responsible for large events such as trade fairs had to develop extensive hygiene concepts in order to protect visitors, exhibitors and staff from contact with the virus as best as possible.

But ultimately it is unclear whether the measures can actually be implemented and enforced. If it turns out during a trade fair that the concept is inadequate, contrary to expectations, or if, for example, there are problems managing the flow of visitors, in the worst case scenario, the trade fair may be canceled.

Since the Interboot in Friedrichshafen is one of the first trade fairs since the lock-down, there is still a lack of experience as to whether and how the successful and smooth implementation of a large trade fair can be implemented at all.

Therefore, with a heavy heart, we decided not to take part in the Interboot in Friedrichshafen.

We regret that we are missing out on the chance to see our customers, prospects and business partners and to present our boats to a wide audience.

But we are aware of our responsibility to protect the health of others and to offer trade fair visitors pleasant and successful days.

We will therefore wait and see whether we can guarantee both at future trade fairs.
